CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

The Children's Ministry at Church of the Word welcomes families to join us in experiencing and sharing Jesus Christ. We offer Sunday and Wednesday programs in addition to summer programs such as Vacation Bible School, Worship Boot camp, Preschool Camp, and Art Camp. Children are welcome to join our programs at any time of the year and parents are welcome to visit Church of the Word to see what's happening.

SUNDAY SCHOOL - Sunday School is available for members and visitors from age 4 through 11. (Pre-K through 5th grade.) Scripture memory pages and children's devotional pages are sent home with students to be used in family devotionals and to reinforce the week's lesson. Church of the Word is currently using the David C. Cook Bible-in-Life series for all classes.
*Summber Program Note: Our summer schedule provides weekly Sunday School for children from Pre-K through 2nd grade. 3rd through 5th graders will be joining their parents in the sanctuary during worship services.*

Nursery care is provided for children age 3 and under during the Sunday worship services and for most special services. Call the church office (703-754-9673) to confirm that childcare is offered at a particular function.

AWANA Club is held every Wednesday from 6:45 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. AWANA is a non-denominational club that promotes Bible memorization and Missions support while incorporating games, music, and crafts. There is no registration fee. All children between the ages of four and eleven are invited, and drop-ins are always welcome. Vacation Bible School 2009 - We have a wonderful Vacation Bible School for 2009! The kids will be exploring the promises of God that He accepts, protects, saves and forgives us while they learn the fulfillment in living a life dedicated to God. Scripture centered activities will reinforce Scripture memory verses. This year's theme is Group Publishing's SonRock Kid's Camp that guarantees tons of fun games, music, crafts and lessons. If your third through fifth grader would like to participate in our program, please fill out a registration form available in the church entryway. They can be mailed back to the church or dropped off in the church office. Vacation Bible School will be held during the 4th week of June, starting on June 22nd. The program runs from 9am -noon and snack is provided. We ask that any child with food allergies bring an appropriate snack from home.
*Summber Program Note: Vacation Bible School has openings in the third through fifth grade class only. All other classes have been filled. *
