Young Adults at Church of the Word
What’s a young adult?
That’s a pretty good question. Churches typically focus on couples and families. But we recognize that those efforts, while good, don’t always reach those in different stages of life. That’s why we’re trying to give special attention to single adults, whatever age you may be. Although the typical “young adult” is, well, young, that’s not always the best descriptor. No matter what your age, we know it’s best to navigate life with others who share your circumstances and challenges. That doesn’t mean we’re all alike, far from it! But despite all the differences, we all come together to encounter and share Jesus as we grow and change in our walk with him.
Paul says in his letter to Timothy (4:12), “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” No matter what our age or position in life, we’re all called to live lives devoted to Jesus, so that others may see our joy and want to know why. Friends, strangers and colleagues are observing and weighing the claims of Jesus as we represent him, whether we know it or not. We know this all too well! So, let’s strive to support each other as we grow in him and share his love with the world. We can do that through fellowship, prayer, Bible Study, and service together.
From time to time we gather as a group for food, fellowship, worship, and bible study. If you have a good idea for the group, we’d love to hear your suggestions. Please contact us if you’d like to host or get involved!
