Sitting here in the Crown Plaza lounge enjoying a bit of a break after a hard day, Stand Firm can nevertheless confirm that there is/was indeed a Special Committee meeting this evening as reported earlier by Gencon06.
However, the meeting is a meeting of bishops only, not a meeting of the entire committee. Its purpose is to craft resolution language that will be both “Windsor compliant” from the perspective of the Anglican Communion and palatable to the full Convention.
The fear is that the resounding rejection of A161 by the HOD earlier this afternoon, if it stands, will ultimately result in some form of disassociation of the Episcopal Church from the wider communion.
There will be a special joint session of the House of Bishops and House of Deputies at mid-morning Wednesday [10 a.m. EDT] during which the presiding bishop will speak to the entire General Convention.
We’ll cover it live at Stand Firm.
