Those present:

Brian Pryor: VP of HOD
Bonnie Anderson
++KJS
Josephine Hicks (Administration and FinanceCommittee)
Terry Roberts (Church in Mission)
John Vanbderstar (National Concerns)
Sandra McPhee (International Concerns)

Canon Robert Williams, the Communications Director of the Episcopal Church: opens with a few remarks about the growing internet media presence, notes the growing influence of Titusonenine and Stand Firm and commends Jan Nunley’s+ EpiScope.

Invites questions:

Steve Waring from TLC asks a question with regard to seminary funding and a follow up on the budget.

I ask the second question. It’s hard, by the way, to live-blog and ask questions at the same time.

I said something like:

“In your recent talk at the Church Center you seemed to suggest that the primates in Tanzania were simply asking the Episcopal Church to refrain from authorizing same sex blessings but that this did not represent a call to stop same sex blessings altogether. But in his speech before the Synod of the Church of England the Archbishop of Canterbury said: (the understanding of the Meeting was certainly that this should be a comprehensive abstention from any public rites), how would you reconcile your characterization with this?”

++KJS: There were indeed a handful of primates who wouldn’t like to see an utter end to same sex blessings but I think the bulk would like to see the validity of the current private practice. There was certainly a variety of opinion but I think in the communiqué we were being asked to not to authorize.
